Synagogue

The Nyíregyháza synagogue was built by the Orthodox Israelite community in 1923-24 based on the plans of Lipó Baumhorn – the most significant synagogue designer and builder of the era – but it was not fully completed until 1932. This synagogue is the largest surviving house of worship in the county.
On the ceiling and walls we find paintings depicting the signs of tribes and constellations, biblical scenes and religious symbols of Judaism.
